We believe that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and the chance to thrive, no matter their background.
—About Us
Million and One INC is a nonprofit organization committed to preventing homelessness across Chicago and uplifting limited-income individuals and families through education, vital resources, and meaningful connections to supportive services.
In partnership with the City of Chicago, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors, we strive to build sustainable pathways to housing stability, economic self-sufficiency, and long-term personal empowerment.
Immigrants from Ethiopia, Eritrea, and other underserved backgrounds face unique challenges:
Language barriers that make it difficult to access services.
Housing instability and financial hardship.
Unemployment and limited job readiness support.
Social isolation compounded by cultural stigma.
Million and One INC. NFP exists to bridge these gaps. We provide culturally-relevant programs, build trust within the community, and offer holistic support that addresses immediate needs while creating long-term solutions.
Our Mission
To empower underserved individuals—primarily immigrants, refugees, women, and minorities—through financial, emotional, and material support. We walk alongside families with culturally-sensitive services that restore dignity and open pathways to independence.
Our Vision
A thriving, inclusive community where every immigrant and underserved family has the resources, confidence, and opportunities to achieve stability and build brighter futures.
Our Approach
We believe in:
Cultural Understanding – Meeting people where they are, with respect for language, traditions, and identity.
Holistic Support – Caring for both immediate needs (food, clothing, housing) and long-term empowerment (education, employment, inclusion).
Community Trust – Building authentic relationships that create safe spaces for healing and growth.
